Where’s the Coverage? Palestinian Speaker Calls for Death of Israelis at Al Quds Day Rally

Al Quds Day, brainchild of the “peace-loving” Iranian regime which distinguishes itself globally as the world’s hardest-working exporter of terrorism, stayed true to its spirit of violence and hatred this year as events across the globe escalated in record levels of violence and intensity. Bearing fake coffins and chanting “Death to America and Israel”, Al Quds Day protesters denounced the “infidel” historical Jewish presence in Jerusalem, calling for the end of the Jewish state, a “cancerous tumour” according the Iranian regime which threatens to wipe Israel “off the map”.

While the Islamic Republic thugocracy calls for the genocide of Jewry from within the borders of its brutal regime which also persecutes its Bahai’, Christian, Gay and other minorities, Al Quds Day held a few hundred metres to the north of the Ontario legislature — a symbol of tolerance and democracy – in Toronto, was a different story. This year, protests shockingly featured a young girl comparing Jews to Nazis as well as a speaker calling for the murder of Israeli Jews. Speaker Elias Hazineh, said to be the former president of Palestine House which lost its federal funding because of its “pattern of support for extremism”, made the following statement from the podium: “We have to give them an ultimatum. You have to leave Jerusalem. You have to leave Palestine… When somebody tries to rob a bank the police get in, they don’t negotiate and we have been negotiating with them for 65 years. We say get out or you are dead. We give them two minutes and then we start shooting and that’s the only way they’ll understand.”

It appears that mainstream Canadian media outlets also had a difficult time “understanding” that Nazi rhetoric calling for the murder of innocents from a public podium is anathema to Canadian values. With the commendable exceptions of Sun News Network, SunMedia publications, Toronto Star, Huffington Post, AM640’s The John Oakley Show, and Newstalk 1010; media outlets have by and large ignored this incitement to murder Jews.

Passivity in the face of such calls to murder can only encourage more acts of incitement. In the words of Martin Luther King, Jr., “History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people.”

HonestReporting Canada encourages you to send a note to your local media encouraging them to draw attention to this shocking display of hatred and intolerance.
