This week, the Taliban retook Afghanistan in a whirlwind blitz, shocking observers with their speed and ferocity. But while the international news media (correctly) identifies the Taliban as a regressive, misogynistic and brutal regime, other terrorist groups seem to avoid that same label.
Hamas and Hezbollah, for example, both Islamist terrorist groups in the Middle East, are often seen by the mainstream news media as actors in specific circumstances, and not as part of the same hateful ideology as the Taliban. But why?
