On June 3, an Egyptian border police officer murdered three innocent Israeli soldiers in an unprovoked attack. The attack, though a rarity, highlights an uncomfortable truth in Egypt: despite the country’s 44-year-old peace treaty with Israel, hostility towards the Jewish State runs extremely high, and the vast majority of Egyptians oppose official ties with the country.
True peace means more than just an absence of war; as shown with Israel’s recent ties with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), it means a true embrace of coexistence between two peoples.
