The Toronto Star announced today that Kathy English has been appointed as the new public editor for the paper.

According to the Star: "Toronto Star readers have a new advocate, pledged to uphold this newspaper’s tradition of journalistic excellence."

Star Publisher Jagoda Pike said that the public editor "is an important liaison between our large, diverse readership and the Star. Kathy is perfectly suited to enhance this well-established office and increase public awareness of the role of journalism and newspapers in Canadian society."
