The Waterloo Record printed an opinion piece by Gwynne Dyer which uses language that assumes that land was taken from the Palestinians and can therefore be returned. However, historical record shows that while the land was controlled by various entities throughout time, it was never controlled or taken from the Palestinians.
This false misconception rehashes one of the most widespread myths promulgated by media coverage of the Mideast conflict ? the claim of Palestinian ‘dispossession’ of land and property at the hands of ‘usurping’ Israelis.
This rather egregious canard only misinformed readers of the Record.
