The Daily Brief – Today’s News And Views About Israel & The Mideast – April 7

April 7, 2017
  • Credit to Canadian Press and Reuters Canada for picking up on a Palestinian terror attack in the west bank where the terrorist rammed his vehicle into Israelis waiting at a bus stop, killing an Israeli soldier and wounding another.
  • The Waterloo Record published an AP report on how Hamas on Thursday morning executed three Palestinians it had accused of ‘collaborating’ with Israel, a development that was likely spurred by the killing of a senior Hamas commander last month. This must be another example of Hamas “Moderation”!
  • Check out the following cartoons in the Toronto Sun and Hamilton Spectator on the American response to the gas attack in Syria:
  • The Times Colonist picked up on an AP report about how the Kansas House approved a bill that would prohibit the state from awarding contracts to companies that are participating in any boycott of Israel.
  • Metro News has an AP report that says that Israel’s defence minister says he is “100 per cent certain” that President Bashar Assad’s forces carried out the chemical attacks in Syria this week that killed dozens of civilians.
  • This again? Richard Gere says his latest trip to Israel showed him that “the occupation is destroying everyone” and he has no hope that the Trump administration will lead Israelis and Palestinians toward peace. See ET Canada’s AP report. Or, learn about how a Britney Spears concert forces Israeli political party to postpone leadership election, courtesy of ET Canada.
