The Arsonist and the Fireman

by Mike Fegelman

As Canadian politicians debated Canada’s policy toward the Middle East this morning, an on-air exchange between two political scientists laid out the very different points of view on the issue.

The discussion took place on CBC Radio One‘s The Current with host Derek Stoffel. The guests were Michael Byers from the University of British Columbia and Aurel Braun from the University of Toronto.

Braun summed up Canada’s position like this:

Braun"It does not mean if you want to be an honest broker that you just look and say ‘there’s a fire’ but you do not distinguish between the arsonist and the fireman."
