In an opinion piece published in Embassy magazine, Paul Davis, a master’s student at Carleton University, criticizes the Canadian government’s principled stand against Hamas and advocates sitting down for tea and schmoozing with the terror group by way of “direct and unconditional engagement” under the guise of “realistic politics” and of a “sensible policy towards Hamas”. HRC Intern Vicky Tobianah answers Mr. Davis in a letter to the Editor by reminding him why Western nations have branded Hamas a terrorist organization and have considered it an “insensible strategy” to negotiate with an entity that promotes the indiscriminate murder of Israeli civilians and the total destruction of the State of Israel.
