As part of her Canada tour, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territories and Hamas apologist, Francesca Albanese, appeared on CTV News on November 9 for an interview.

During the introduction to the segment, CTV Anchor Renee Rogers recapped recent Israeli counter-terrorism efforts against Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon, saying “At least 14 people were killed in Israeli strikes” in Gaza, and that seven people were killed in Lebanon. Not one word was offered as to who the targets were, nor was Hamas or Hezbollah mentioned at all in that retelling, suggesting that Israel is almost wantonly bombing targets, seemingly without purpose.
Lest that point was too subtle, the host then spoke with Albanese, a fanatical anti-Israel extremist who has spoken at a Hamas conference, defended the terrorist group’s right to murder Israelis, denied Hamas atrocities on October 7, 2023 and spread anti-Jewish conspiracy theories.
Albanese Is An Anti-Israel Extremist
And yet, despite Albanese’s history of extremist rhetoric, this was similarly hidden from viewers, with no background provided about her dalliance with Islamic terrorists.
The interview opened with a question with an incredibly predictable answer for Albanese: “Do you think Israel has violated international laws,” which she dutifully answered in the affirmative, before making false claim after false claim.
Albanese alleged that the “death toll among civilians is unprecedented,” though she failed to elaborate exactly how this might be the case. Even according to Hamas’ own debunked figures, the total death toll in Gaza after more than a year of intense urban warfare is a fraction of a percent of other wars, and given the number of Hamas terrorists killed, the proportion of civilians killed is likely lower than in virtually any other modern armed conflict.
Albanese continued by peddling the false statement that “there has been starvation,” conveniently ignoring how more food aid is entering Gaza daily following Hamas’ massacres on October 7, 2023 than before, and that the United Nations and UNRWA, the disgraced agency which she previously worked at, has proven itself unable or unwilling to distribute the aid into Gaza. Nevertheless, food access is improving in Gaza, impending warnings of ‘famine’ never arrived, and footage from the enclave continues to show markets with food.
Liar, Liar, Pants On Fire
As the interview wound down, Albanese shared the most spurious, unfounded and hateful accusation of all, alleging that “Israel has committed acts of genocide in Gaza.”
As evidence, Albanese told the host that “Canada should have suspended all arms relations and including trade…in light of the International Court of Justice conclusions as of January and February…that Israel is plausibly committing acts of genocide.”
The International Court of Justice never said any such thing, a point made clear by Joan Donoghue, the president of the world court during the early 2024 provisional judgements cited by Albanese. In fact, it is a total and utter fabrication, and yet Albanese – a self-styled expert – had no qualms spreading patent propaganda.
While the host did at one point ask Albanese to comment on Israel’s defence that it is targeting Hamas and attempting to free hostages in Gaza, by letting her ongoing screed go unchallenged, it was woefully insufficient.
That Albanese would spread hateful anti-Israel disinformation is entirely expected, but that her host on CTV News would make little to no effort to hold her accountable for her vicious lies is unacceptable.
