Newfoundland CBC Radio Program Features Radical Assistant Professor Heidi Matthews Spreading Predictable Anti-Israel Disinformation, With No Challenge By Host

Heidi Matthews, an assistant professor at Osgoode Hall Law School who has described Hamas terrorism against Israel “resistance”, was the featured guest on a CBC radio program in St. John’s, Newfoundland, where she spread false allegations against the Jewish State, all while her host failed to challenge her guest even a single time.

On February 6, Matthews was the guest on St. John’s Morning Show, where she spoke with host Jen White for eight minutes about US President Donald Trump’s peace plan for the Gaza Strip. And despite Matthews making a litany of unfounded statements, White remained silent, unwilling or unable to hold her guest accountable for her disinformation.

White introduced Matthews by asking her to “tell us about how international law views this?” as if Matthews was the arbiter of international law, and not a disseminator of extremist anti-Israel rhetoric.

Matthews suggested that that the emigration of Gazans elsewhere constitutes an “intention to commit active genocide,” even though as an assistant law professor, she surely is aware that genocide means the attempted extermination of a people, not the facilitation of emigration from a war zone.

However, even in the face of this deliberate misrepresentation of the facts, White said nothing at all.

Later in the conversation – or more accurately, a largely uninterrupted diatribe by Matthews – the guest peddled yet more disinformation, claiming that Israel had carried out a “deliberate starvation” of Gaza, in spite of tremendous evidence to the contrary, from the number of food trucks entering Gaza, to footage showing bustling markets, to images of well-fed, and sometimes even obese Gazans.

Not once during the entire segment was a single word mentioned about Hamas, the Palestinian Islamic terrorist group that not only began the war with its massacres on October 7, 2023, and subsequent holding of hundreds of Israeli hostages for hundreds of days. This erasure is not simply a matter of sloppiness, but arguably malicious.

Hamas is not only the guilty party in deliberately creating the violence and perpetuating it, but it is also the party which has controlled Gaza for nearly two decades. In that sense, it is not only a terrorist group, but the government of Gaza.

In essence, to have a conversation about the future of Gaza while omitting any mention of Hamas is either an example of profound ignorance or of deliberate whitewashing of Palestinian terrorism.

Thus, when Matthews called the Trump peace plan a “violation of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and to independence in their own state in which they get to freely determine their own political and economic future,” she is rewriting history, given that the Palestinians in Gaza for 20 years, have had the opportunity to do exactly that.

In the summer of 2005, Israel forcibly withdrew every single Israeli, civilian and soldier, from Gaza, leaving it in the hands of Palestinians, who promptly converted the valuable land into a decrepit, poverty-struck territory used as a launching pad for violence against Israel. Gazans had two decades of self-determination, and they used it to threaten Israel’s very existence.

The February 6 edition of St John’s Morning Show not only gave a platform to a serial disseminator of extreme anti-Israel rhetoric, but demonstrated host Jen White’s failure to hold her guest accountable for any of her relentless disinformation.
