In One-Minute Ad, Oxfam Spreads “Genocide” Slur On BNN Bloomberg Channel, Owned By Bell Media

Oxfam Canada claims to be a humanitarian organization that is “focusing on improving lives and promoting the rights of women and girls.”

Thanks to that seemingly unobjectionable mandate, the group is a fundraising juggernaut, raising nearly $35 million in its 2024-2025 fiscal year, mostly from government funding.

In Quebec, its separate arm raises even more, almost $41 million, with three-quarters of it coming from the taxpayer.

But in practice, Oxfam Canada has spent more than two years using its cachet and credibility and becoming a hardline anti-Israel activist group, spreading falsehoods and disinformation without any fear of challenge in news media interviews, all under the guise of its supposedly ‘humanitarian’ perspective.

The group has sent out unsolicited anti-Israel mailers to Canadian households, and spent a small fortune promoting anti-Israel propaganda on social media.

That pales in comparison to recent accusations against Oxfam’s global operations. A new investigation by NGO Monitor argues that much of Oxfam’s Gaza operations are embedded with the Hamas terrorist regime there. Using declassified Arabic-language documents from inside Gaza, the report notes that the perception of independence of so-called ‘humanitarian’ groups inside the territory is fictional, Oxfam included.

The seriousness of these scandalous accusations has not stopped Oxfam from major ad buys in Canada, where it continues to aggressively promote anti-Israel disinformation to the Canadian public.

In doing so, Oxfam is leveraging the trust it has built with donors and policymakers, effectively weaponizing that public confidence to push a deeply misleading narrative that obscures the realities on the ground and undermines genuine humanitarian efforts.

Recently, BNN Bloomberg, a major business news channel owned by Bell Media, ran a one-minute advertisement from Oxfam, which began by blaring the word “genocide” across the screen, alongside images from Gaza, in a clear accusation against Israel.

Click below to watch the advertisement:

Despite the fact that scores of scholars, including the world’s top expert on urban warfare, have said no such genocide took place, and in fact that Israel took unprecedented steps to protect civilians from harm inside Gaza, is apparently of little interest to Oxfam.

The advertisement was a fundraiser, soliciting donations from the public, using discredited and hateful accusations leveled against the Jewish State as a basis.

Claims of “genocide” against Israel are not simply ignorant and without a foundation in fact. They are used as a cudgel, not just to demonize one country in the Middle East, but to attack Jews around the world, to paint them as supporters of an evil regime and to seek to effectively sideline them from public life.

Thus, when Oxfam spreads vile and hateful anti-Israel propaganda, they are – deliberately or not – painting a target on the back of Jews around the world, and when BNN Bloomberg airs such an ad for its viewers, it is giving such disinformation a platform.

BNN Bloomberg, and its parent company Bell Media, must immediately pull this advertisement from Oxfam, and ensure that promoting hateful anti-Israel disinformation has no place on its channel.
