CBC Winnipeg Radio Host Nadia Kidwai Continues To Interview Exclusively Anti-Israel Guests, Failing to Even Offer Semblance Of Balance

December 15, 2024

If members of the public tuned in to a recent radio segment in Winnipeg featuring two guests complaining about Israel, they would likely think they were listening to a low-budget campus radio station or two-bit public access program.

Instead, they were listening to yet another Israel-bashing segment being paid for by them, the Canadian taxpayer.

In recent months, Kadia Kidwai, the host of CBC’s The Weekend Morning Show (Manitoba), has converted much of her program into little more than a mouthpiece of pro-Palestinian (anti-Israel) propaganda.

1-Sided Anti-Israel Programming

On December 7, Kidwai hosted another lengthy segment with two anti-Israel guests, once again making no attempt whatsoever to offer any semblance of balance or fairness. In fact, despite offering a platform to multiple anti-Israel activists in recent months, not a single opposing voice has been featured by Kidwai.

In an 18-minute segment entitled: “Why is Palestinian statehood a human rights issue?” Kidwai spoke with Kyra Campbell, a student organizer of a pro-Palestinian event at the University of Manitoba, alongside Mona Abuamara, the chief representative of the Palestinian General Delegation to Canada.

Abuamara wasted no time in spreading her bile, repeatedly accusing Israel of “genocide,” a hateful and unfounded accusation that is both unjustified and dangerously irresponsible. The best response that Kidwai could muster is telling listeners that accusations of genocide are in front of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), and that “Israel denies that charge.”

In one particularly noteworthy departure from reality, Abuamara contested Israel’s argument that recognizing a Palestinian state would be a reward to Hamas, arguing that “Israel claims that Hamas has this vision of destroying and annihilating Israel. So if this is a reward for Hamas, then it means that Hamas accepts the 1967 borders, which by default recognize(s) the existence of Israel, which by itself defies the argument…”

Hamas Is Dedicated To Israel’s Destruction

While that meandering may make sense to Abuamara, it is a statement that is both illogical and incomprehensible. Israel does not ‘claim’ that Hamas wants to annihilate it; Hamas makes that promise quite clearly, a point that Abuamara surely knows, yet feigns ignorance about.

More importantly, recognizing a Palestinian state – in the wake of Hamas’ October 7, 2023 massacres and subsequent war – in no way compels Hamas to recognize Israel. While it inarguably gives the terrorist group a major victory, it does not mean Hamas recognizes Israel.

Delving deeper into a fantasy land, Abuamara – ostensibly with a straight face – claimed that “Israeli leaders tried every step of the way to foil… a Palestinian state to be born,” but the Palestinians, in contrast, have extended their hand in peace, “simply because we want a brighter future for our kids.”

This is complete and utter disinformation.

Just three days before Kidwai’s latest taxpayer-funded pro-Palestinian propaganda session, former US President Bill Clinton, speaking to The New York Times, reminded the public that audiences are shocked to hear that the Palestinians, not Israelis, rejected peace offers, saying that the Palestinians “walked away from a Palestinian state, with a capital in East Jerusalem, 96 percent of the West Bank, 4 percent of Israel to make up for the 4 percent” in Judea & Samaria, or in media parlance, the “West Bank”.

And yet on all this nonsense spread by Abuamara, easily disproved, Kidwai offered no challenge to her guest.

Kidwai’s second guest, local student Kyra Campbell, offered little in the way of variety.

She told her host that “I’m a white settler here in Canada” who became an anti-Israel activist at a young age, thanks to having “learned about the issue pretty young, just through school.”

Like Abuamara, she repeated the dangerous and hateful “genocide” lie against Israel, adding in allegations of “apartheid” for good measure.

For her part, Kidwai offered no challenge to Kyra, and in fact very much the opposite, telling listeners that “several human rights organizations” such as the fanatically anti-Israel Amnesty International, agree with her.

CBC claims fairness, balance, impartiality and accuracy among its key journalistic principles.

But anyone who has listened to The Weekend Morning Show (Manitoba) with Nadia Kidwai, whose regular anti-Israel content makes a mockery of these principles, would see how little these statements apparently mean to CBC.
