In today’s National Post, Leslie Wolfe, the vice-president of the OSSTF – District 12 responded to the National Post’s coverage of the anti-Israel motion that has generated some controversy.
According to Wolfe:
"If the National Post wishes to editorialize on the internal musings of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation (OSSTF), you ought to get your facts straight first. The OSSTF has never planned to table any motion on the Middle East; rather, two individuals among our 6,000 members have brought the motions for debate. Until and unless those motions pass, the union does not "intend to develop curricular materials that examine Israel’s treatment of Palestinians." On the date that your editorial was published, that was simply the hope of the motion’s mover and seconder."
For recent coverage of the motion’s defeat by the local Ontario teachers union please see the following reports by CBC Online and the Globe & Mail.
