Mpotter Toronto Star Middle East correspondent Mitch Potter describes the chummy scene among Canada’s Israel-based correspondents during the Stanley Cup final:

"How true a fan is our host, Globe and Mail Middle East correspondent Mark MacKinnon, who commands encyclopedic knowledge of all things Oiler, and, in fact, most things hockey…

MacKinnon’s passion is rivalled by that of Jerusalem-based Associated Press photographer Kevin Frayer, who, though a Winnipegger, remains a complete Oiler fiend. Frayer was in charge of the guest list, which he insisted on filtering for "maximum juju." …

CBC Radio News correspondent Margaret Evans, an Edmontonian, passed muster, naturally. So too did Carolynne Wheeler MacKinnon, Mark’s fellow correspondent and spouse, who laid in a kilo of not-so-easy-to-come-by bacon for the feast that was to follow.

And so too did CTV’s Janis Mackey Frayer, who happens to be married to Kevin Frayer, and who arrived with her own handmade, almost-to-scale Stanley Cup replica — an artful arrangement of cakepan, plastic planter and Ikea nesting boxes beneath reams of tinfoil."
