The once cherished Mideast post appears to be a conduit to the promised land of reporting: the European bureaus based in London.
HonestReporting Canada exclusively reports that effective in the near future, Mitch Potter will be on a new assignment for the Toronto Star based in the U.K. Taking over his beat will be Oakland Ross (pictured), a veteran journalist who was part of the Star’s team covering the Israel-Hezbollah conflict last August.
This isn’t the first Canadian Mideast bureau chief to depart to the U.K., after 3-years based in Jerusalem, the CBC’s Adrienne Arsenault jumped at the opportunity to report from this prestigious bureau.
