- November 2, 2013: For the record: Due to an editing error, a headline in Friday’s Gazette incorrectly referred to Israel’s plan to build “1,500 new settlements.” It should have said “1,500 new homes.” The Gazette regrets the error.”
- October 24, 2012: “For the record: “A news-service article in Tuesday’s Gazette said incorrectly that a vessel boarded by Israeli commandoes in 2010 was carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza Strip. In fact, the boarded vessel was a passenger ship that was part of a flotilla bringing humanitarian aid to Gaza.”
- June 19, 2011: After publishing a false AFP report claiming that an Israeli “Jewish court orders ‘reincarneated’ dog stoned to death,” HRC notified senior editors that this was a ficticious story and the Gazette then corrected the story by publishing a new report claiming that the “Jewish court denies dog stoned to death.”
- April 28, 2011: Correction: “Due to a reporting error, Mount Royal Liberal candidate Irwin Cotler was incorrectly quoted in the April 26 article “Cotler gets praise but Tory opponent may get votes,” as saying the Liberal government “delisted” Hamas and Hezbollah from Canada’s terrorist list. In fact, the Liberal government put the two organizations on the terrorist list. The Gazette regrets the error.”
- May 16 2009: Apology – “A report about a downtown rally for Israel’s independence day began with an anecdote about a Quebec flag left on the ground to be “trod upon.” The intention behind that was to go beyond a straight report of the event and reflect on flags and nationalism in a province where both are ever-present. Unfortunately, it really didn’t come across that way in the context of a story about a rally that went off with no significant disruptions. To many readers, it looked as if we had gone out looking for something negative – which certainly wasn’t our intention. Throughout our writing and editing process, we should have realized how it would look the next morning.”
- Mar 6 2009: Report stated “Israeli Arabs do not serve in the military and that can be used to deprive them of jobs where such service is a prerequisite.” Correction issued stating “members of the Druze and Bedouin communities serve in the Israeli Defense Forces.”
- Jan 13 2009: Report about pro-Palestinians demonstrations in Montreal described the Gaza strip as an “occupied territory.” Correction issued, confirming Israel withdrew its forces from Gaza in 2005.
- Jan 11 2009: “Jews, Christians, Muslims, Anglos, Francos, grandmothers and children walked together yesterday in the bitter cold to call for an immediate ceasefire in the occupied territory.” Correction stated “Israel withdrew its forces and settlers from Gaza in 2005.”
- Oct 12 2007: “A story in the Gazette of Oct. 6 from Reuters and Agence France-Presse news agencies, referred to Israel’s ‘war against Lebanon’ last year. In fact, Israel was at war with Hezbollah forces inside Lebanon at the time, not with the Lebanese government.” Correction issued.
- Sept 1 2007: Follow up story issued – “I think you make a fair point. We have a follow-up story on this issue in tomorrow’s paper, and we will include a line along the lines you suggest.” According to a Gazette editor after a Gazette report failed to mention that “Israel denies any mistreatment” regarding a Palestinian released from an Israeli prison who claimed he was tortured.
