On October 3, we alerted you to how the McGill Daily continues to malign Israel.
True to form, in its October 7 edition, the Daily authored a profile of the anti-Israel campus group, SPHR (Solidarity for Palestinian Human Rights) by “news writer” Tara Alami which whitewashed the boycott, divestment and sanction movement and failed to contextualize how BDS is an antisemitic effort that calls for Israel’s destruction.
The paper also falsely claimed that “East Jerusalem” and Hebrew University are located on “occupied Palestinian land”, thereby denying Jewish claims and rights to the area and disregarding Israel’s annexation in 1967.
As you might imagine, Israel is accused in this article of the usual “ethnic cleansing, colonialism, and imperialism.”
So much for journalistic objectivity at the Daily!
Interestingly, in the same edition, the Daily published its most recent financial statements. Please take note that the paper’s main source of revenue is from student fees. Appallingly, it’s these fees which subsidize a paper that recently peddled in antisemitism by claiming that Zionism is racism and for having an editorial policy of banning Zionist opinions.
