In Waterloo Region Record, HRC Rebuts Letter Writer Who Implied Israel & USA Started Conflict With Iran

On March 13, HRC Assistant Director, Rob Walker, was published in the Waterloo Region Record, responding to a letter writer who implied that Israel and the United States started the conflict with Iran, by getting their “bombs in first”.

In his rebuttal, Walker underscored that this framing ignores the broader reality: the conflict with Iran did not begin with the recent strikes but has been shaped over decades. The Iranian regime has long supported terror campaigns both at home and abroad, which has led to the deaths of thousands, including its own citizens and victims around the world, among them Canadians.

Iran is the real aggressor in Middle East war

Re: This war on Iran is dangerous and irresponsible, March 11

A recent letter writer claimed the United States and Israel have gotten their “bombs in first” in Iran.

Except the war did not just begin two weeks ago. The Iranian regime has, for decades, been arming and supporting an array of proxy Islamic terrorist groups across the Middle East, including Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis (all banned in Canada), who collectively have killed untold thousands of civilians across the region, including many Canadians.

Two months ago, the Iranian regime massacred 35,000 people as they protested for an end to the regime.

The Iranian regime started this war decades ago, hoping that it could let others fight its war for them. The more the Islamic Republic of Iran weakens, the safer we all become.
