On September 8, HRC’s Director of Education, Amanda Eskenasi, appeared on I24 TV’s Jewish World Weekly in Israel, where she emphasized the urgent need for Mark Carney’s government to fulfill its promise to combat the rapidly rising tide of antisemitism across Canada.
She explained how gaps in Canada’s hate crimes and free speech laws are allowing antisemitic rhetoric to filter into mainstream discourse, normalizing dangerous narratives and stressed that Canadian news outlets have a responsibility to stop providing a platform for individuals and groups who amplify hate.
