HRC Secures Correction in the Toronto Sun

by Mike Fegelman

Monday’s edition of the Toronto Sun carried an Associated Press report which featured a photo that misidentified Ehud Barak, the Israeli Defense Minister. Instead, an image of Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert was inserted with the following quote: Barak ? ?Broaden Barrage? incorrectly attributed to him, though these were comments were made by Mr. Barak, not Olmert yesterday. Likewise, the lead of the article erroneously identified Abbas as the "Palestine president."

HonestReporting Canada contacted Sun editors and secured the following correction in today’s edition of the paper"

"A photo in yesterday’s Sun was misidentified as Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak with a quote attributed to him. The photo was of Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. In the first paragraph of the wire story on Gaza peace talks, the word Palestinian was changed to Palestine. The Sun regrets the errors."
