UPDATED: HRC Prompts Globe Correction (Again!) Israel Isn't Building "New Settlements"

In yesterday’s Globe and Mail, a front-page report by Adrian Morrow and an article by reporter Dakshana Bascaramurty both incorrectly claimed that Israel announced construction of new settlements in east Jerusalem, whereas Israel only announced the approval of the building of hundreds of homes within existing areas of east Jerusalem, described in another Globe report as homes built in existing “urban settlements” that Israel annexed many years ago. To reiterate, no new settlements are slated for construction, only new housing starts will commence.

HonestReporting Canada brought this information to the attention of the Globe and Mail who commendably issued the following correction today:

 

On September 24 and January 4, HRC prompted the following Globe and Mail corrections to note that only new housing starts were being announced at the time:

UPDATE: January 26, 2017

Despite having issued corrections for wrongly claiming that Israel is building “new settlements”, on January 25 the Globe again made the same error in a headline to the following AP article:

This forced HonestReporting Canada to again call on the Globe to issue another correction, which was published today, January 26:
