Instead of reporting the unvarnished truth about Syria’s appalling human rights record and its support for terrorist organizations, news organizations applied a fresh coat of whitewash by referring to the al-Assad family as reformers and by giving unwarranted plaudits to the Syrian first lady, Asma al-Assad.
