HRC Letter Published In Regina Leader-Post: Letter Spews Pro-Hamas Misinformation

July 16, 2024

On July 16, HRC’s Robert Walker’s letter was published in the Regina Leader-Post, responding to a letter by Lee Fuller which attempted to draw a false moral equivalence between Israel’s self-defense war against Hamas terrorists and Russia’s offensive war against Ukraine, accusing both Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of being a war criminal and the Israeli government of showing no restraint against innocent Palestinians.

Robert Walker rebutted these false allegations, stating that Israel has gone above and beyond any other military in the world when it comes to protecting all civilian life. If Fuller truly cares about Palestinians, then he should focus on Hamas terrorists, who purposely put their own people in harm’s way, using them as human shields; an actual war crime.

Letter Spews Pro-Hamas Misinformation

Lee Fuller’s July 11 anti-Israel letter is so full of disinformation, it is difficult to know where to start.

Fuller outlandishly refers to Israel’s “indiscriminate attacks on civilian populations,” in a complete inversion of reality. Indiscriminate means random, or without any focus whatsoever.

John Spencer, a lecturer at West Point military academy in urban warfare, and one of the top experts on the planet on the topic, has made it clear that Israel has done more to protect civilians than any armed force in history.

Actual experts in the field of urban combat recognize that Israel has taken incredible steps to minimize civilian casualties, such as providing advance warning, dropping leaflets, abandoning missions if the risk to civilians is too high. However, Hamas — the genocidal Islamic terrorist group — does precisely the opposite.

Hamas not only murders, kidnaps, rapes and tortures Israeli civilians, but also it uses Gazans as human shields. This is precisely why there are any civilian casualties in Gaza at all. Israel has the right, and the obligation, to defend its people against Hamas terrorists.

If Fuller  — or anyone else, for that matter  — truly cared about Palestinian lives, their ire should be focused exclusively on Hamas. Hamas continues to hold 120 Israeli hostages in Gaza for more than nine months, and continues to hold all of Gaza hostage.
