In CBC Radio-Canada Interview, HRC/AVI Campus Media Fellow Decries Antisemitism Rampant At McGill University Encampment

May 6, 2024

On May 2, HRC/AVI Campus Media Fellow Ora Bar was interviewed by CBC Radio-Canada on the ongoing anti-Israel encampment set up at McGill University by activists in protest of Israel’s defensive war against Hamas terrorists in Gaza.

Ora spoke about the fact that Israel is a very small country, where everyone knows everyone else, and because of this, everyone was affected in some way by the October 7th massacre by Hamas terrorists. She personally lost a friend at the Nova Music Festival and her family had to evacuate from the North of Israel.
She then spoke about the anti-Israel / antisemitic uprisings on campus by the pro-Palestinian side, stating that people are using the “luxury of distance from the conflict” to ignore the realities and parts of the story.
When asked about the Israeli government and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Ora stated that Israelis are the first people to criticize their government, but that doesn’t mean the State doesn’t have a right to exist.
At the end of the interview, Ora was asked about the pro-Palestinian movement, and she said their message actually isn’t pro-Palestinian; it is anti-Israel and anti-Zionist.

Intifada, said quietly or loud is a call for violence against the Jews, plain and simple.
