When the Syrian Civil War erupted in 2011, a human rights catastrophe soon followed. Syrian civilians, seeking safety and often treatment for injuries. Neighbouring Israel, as it often does, opened its borders to Syrian refugees, and offered them medical treatment in a safe and secure setting.
