Eliaz Luf, chargé d’affaires of the Israeli Embassy in Canada, reviews the objective of the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada and Israel’s Association of University Heads and the potential for more collaboration in research and better student and faculty mobility between Israel and Canada.
As Luf describes, Israeli universities have gained a global reputation that far exceeds the country’s size, having produced six Nobel Prize winners since 2002. Israel’s seven universities consistently rank in the top 500 in the world, with four in the top 100. The high value Canadians and Israelis place on education and knowledge makes collaboration between the two countries a natural partnership.
