Hamilton Spectator's "Right of Return"

by Mike Fegelman

Adrian_hamilton The Hamilton Spectator picked up on a report by Adrian Hamilton (pictured left) of the London-based newspaper the Independent, where he writes about the Palestinian "refugees’ right of return".

This language, without any qualification implies that the Independent and the Hamilton Spectator accepts that the Palestinians do in fact have such an entrenched right.

In a means to maintain impartiality, the Hamilton Spectator and the Independent should qualify the term "right of return" with quotation marks or introductory wording such as: "claimed" or "long-desired" in order to precisely reflect the situation in a fair and even-handed manner.

Please write letters to the Hamilton Spectator: letters@thespec.com and the Independent: letters@independent.co.uk
