Globe & Mail Issues Correction

by Mike Fegelman

In a February 26 special report to the Globe & Mail about current Israeli political coalition talks entitled ?With Israel's Livni holding out, Netanyahu forced to look right?, the following erroneous statement about Kadima Leader Tzipi Livni was reported: ?But with the clock ticking and Ms. Livni sticking by her refusal to be anything but prime minister, Mr. Netanyahu, the Likud chairman, embarked yesterday on coalition talks for a narrow right-wing government?

Contrary to this statement, Tzipi Livni is no longer making the Israeli prime ministership a deal-breaker in her coalition talks with Benjamin Netanyahu. This fact was acknowledged by the Globe & Mail who issued the following correction on February 27: ?Kadima leader Tzipi Livni is no longer demanding the Israeli prime ministership as a condition for joining Benjamin Netanyahu in a coalition government. Incorrect information appeared yesterday?.

We commend Globe & Mail editors for admitting their mistake and for promptly issuing this correction.
