Hundreds of youth from around the world participated, Sunday afternoon, in a flotilla that sailed from Ashkelon to Ashdod to counter the flotillas that have attempted to break the naval blockade of Gaza in the past 15 months. During the cruise, the participants released balloons in support of Gilad Shalit in the direction of Gaza as part of a call to Hamas to release the abducted Israeli soldier and for the purposes of the flotilla, the lead boat was renamed in honor of Shalit.
The second boat was renamed in honor of Jonathan Pollard, who is in the 26th year of a life sentence for passing classified information from the United States to Israel.
