The magazine had published an op-ed by former Surrey teacher Bob Rosen which was replete with errors, hypocrisy, half-truths, baseless accusations and straw man arguments which we thoroughly debunked.
Our critique, along with close to one hundred letters that were sent to the magazine by HRC’s members, served as a teachable moment for this publication that biased anti-Israel commentaries will not be tolerated anymore.
We are pleased to inform you that a colleague of ours, Mr. Glenn Bullard, a social justice representative for the New Westminster Teachers’ Union, secured considerable space in the magazine’s January/February 2011 edition to rebut Rosen’s egregious polemic. We are also appreciative that the magazine has allowed for equal treatment on this issue and for a marketplace of ideas to prevail.
Furthermore, the B.C. Teachers Federation Magazine also commendably published a letter to the editor signed by over a dozen B.C. educators condemning the publication of Rosen’s biased article.
